A recumbent bicycle is a bicycle that places the rider in a laid-back reclining position. both are designed to give cardio work outs all though the treadmill puts a beating on the feetlegs and knees it is the best because it burns at the core your body strechs and burn at the abs which is you core and the more you run the lungs increase expansion and heart pulls hard to pump where as sitting in distained comfort on a bike moving the legs with no impact shock except to your butt till you start sweating and basically get tired of riding it before your even good and winded is doing nothing for weight loss other than your water retainment if your going to work out then do it right work it all…………skipper
